The Alderman Court shall have jurisdiction and cognizance of all breaches of the peace and other offenses committed within the corporate limits of the Town of Dewey Beach so far as to arrest and hold for bail, fine and/or imprison offenders for offenses under its Municipal Code, certain Title 11 misdemeanor offenses, and Title 21 traffic violations; to uphold and enforce the Charter of the Town of Dewey Beach and ordinances duly enacted by the Commissioners of Dewey Beach and to carry into effect all orders of the Commissioners of Dewey Beach made pursuant to any law of this state. The Alderman and Assistant Alderman are judges nominated by the Governor, confirmed by the Senate and are under the jurisdiction of the Chief Justice of the State of Delaware.

The mission of the USLA and the Dewey Beach Patrol is to establish high standards for open water (beach) lifeguards, to educate the public, and to promote actions intended to result in saving of human life in and around the marine environment.

The Building Department is responsible for the enforcement of the Dewey Beach Municipal Code. The Building Official will issue permits for all construction and work being performed in town. In addition to permitting, this department will perform the review and approval of plans, and attempt to resolve complaints filed by residents that pertain to code compliance.

The Finance Department manages and reports on all financial functions of Town departments in accordance with generally accepted principles of government accounting.

Our hardworking Maintenance Department is responsible for keeping Dewey Beach beautiful and functioning. The department maintains the roadways, storm water facilities, and landscaping and grounds for town-owned areas.

The Parking & Code Enforcement Department is responsible for monitoring and acting upon any municipal ordinance infraction, as well as handling parking-related inquiries and tickets.

The Town Hall Administration Department is responsible for the overall management of the Town. The Town Manager is appointed by the Mayor and Council to provide professional leadership and management of Town resources and to execute and administer Town Council policies, ordinances, programs, and service goals and objectives adopted by the Mayor and Council.
