Neighbor Network

The Dewey Beach Neighbor Network is a new community-building initiative launched by the Dewey Beach Marketing Committee to strengthen connections across our town. Designed to encourage communication, engagement, and a welcoming spirit, the Neighbor Network will establish two volunteer Street Captains on each block who help share town news, welcome newcomers, and keep neighbors connected. This program builds on the success of several streets that already maintain active neighbor lists - and aims to bring that same sense of community pride and togetherness to every corner of Dewey Beach.

BECOME A STREET CAPTAIN

Would you like to help your neighbors get to know each other, stay informed about town news, upcoming events, and volunteer opportunities, and build community pride in the best little beach town in Delaware? Captains will share updates from the Town, welcome newcomers, help keep neighbors connected, and even organize block gatherings or other fun events if they choose. We’re modeling this program after the many streets that already keep shared phone and email lists - some of the most social blocks in town!

A great Street Captain is someone who enjoys connecting with others and fostering a sense of community. You don’t need special qualifications - just a friendly attitude, a willingness to share updates from the Town, and an interest in helping neighbors stay informed and engaged. If you like welcoming new faces, organizing simple get-togethers, or simply helping people feel more connected, you’d be a perfect fit. It’s an easy volunteer role for anyone who loves Dewey Beach and wants to help strengthen the community spirit on their block.

STREET CAPTAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Street Captain, your role is simple: build a contact list for your block and send out the occasional notices we provide. That’s it. With just these easy steps, you’ll play a key part in keeping neighbors informed and connected.
