Beach Assessment Tax

Our beaches - that probably attracted you to Dewey Beach in the first place - suffer erosion during the inevitable storms, and we periodically replenish the beach with sand dredged from offshore. While the federal government is a major contributor to the required funding for this, property owners do their share by paying a beach replenishment tax to the town at a rate of $.0111 per $100 of assessed value. Dewey Beach does not assess a property tax at this time - the only tax mandatory for all property owners is the beach replenishment tax (other taxes and fees will apply if you rent your property).

The annual beach assessment tax is due June 1st. The Town of Dewey Beach will only send bills to property owner mailing addresses - we will not bill your mortgage company directly.

You may pay your beach tax by submitting a check by mail payable to Town of Dewey Beach, to Dewey Beach Town Hall, 105 Rodney Ave, Dewey Beach DE 19971. You may also pay online via the online payment portal. Enter your information in the "Property Tax Quick Pay" area to look up and pay for any balance due.
