Every entity doing business in Dewey Beach is required to obtain a business license. The business license year runs from May 1- April 30. 

HOW DO I APPLY & PAY FOR MY BUSINESS LICENSE?

Choose one of the above circles to be taken to the correct application. 

  • You can complete the online application and payment or print a paper copy of the application and submit via mail with a check payable to the Town of Dewey Beach. 
  • Applications are also accepted at Town Hall with payment by cash, check, or credit card. Note: All credit card payments processed at town hall are subject to a 3% convenience fee.
  • Renewals can be paid online, or the invoice can be printed and mailed to Town Hall with a check.  Renewal invoices will also be mailed to the business address on file.

LICENSES & STICKERS

After your application is reviewed and approved, a copy of your license certificate will be sent to the e-mail address provided on your application. If no e-mail address is available, this copy will be sent to your provided mailing address. A copy of this license should be maintained in any work vehicles present in Town. 

For businesses with a brick-and-mortar location in Dewey Beach, a copy of your license certificate, and a window cling will be sent to the mailing address provided on your application.  The window cling must be displayed in a front door or window that is easily visible from the street or property entrance.

GENERAL REGULATIONS

  • Please contact Town Hall at (302)227-6363 prior to completing your business license application if you plan to conduct any business on the beach.
  • You may be required to obtain a Building Permit for your planned work.  Please visit the Building & Zoning FAQ page for additional information.
  • Business licenses do not serve as a parking pass.  Licensed businesses are eligible for discounts on seasonal parking passes.  Parking fees are in effect from May15 - September 15.

The penalty for conducting business in Dewey Beach without a town business license is a late fee of 10% of the fee owed, plus a fine of $500.00, in addition to the cost of the appropriate business license.
