Dear Dewey Beach Residents,
We want to make you aware of an important issue affecting flood protection in our community.
Federal funding for a flood mitigation project on Read Avenue in Dewey Beach - previously approved through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in August of 2024 - is currently being withheld, putting this critical project on hold. As a low-lying coastal town, Dewey Beach remains vulnerable to flooding, storm surge, and future storm events while this delay continues.
Your voice can make a difference. We encourage you to contact your state representatives and urge them to take action to help release this approved funding so the project can move forward without further delay. Contact information for Senator Coons, Senator Blunt Rochester, and Congresswoman McBride are provided below.
Protecting our homes, businesses, and public infrastructure depends on timely action. Thank you for taking a moment to speak up for Dewey Beach.
We encourage you to use this Template Letter when contacting your representatives.
